Landscapes for Adventure
Art Exhibition at the Workstation Sheffield
6 – 14 March 2018
Meet the Artist – Friday 9 March 8pm – 10pm
at the Workstation, Paternoster Row, Sheffield S1 2BX
Tessa Lyons, Joe Mallia, Katherine Rhodes
An exhibition of artwork by three artists. A visual exploration of rock and the landscape, from the massive rock of mountains, to crags, small outcrops, and edges. The exhibition complements Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (ShAFF) with an exhibition of paintings, printmaking and drawings from the point of view of outdoor enthusiasts. The artists approach their subjects very differently and vary in experience and relationship with the landscape, but they are united by a love of the outdoors and having a personal interaction with these landscapes through climbing, mountaineering or walking.
The exhibition is in the Workstation Sheffield next to the Showroom Cinema, in conjunction with Sheffield Adventure Film Festival, Sheffield’s annual adventure film festival. The exhibition runs daily from Wednesday 6th March until Wed 14th March 2018 inclusive 9-6 daily, and in the evenings till 10pm over the ShAFF weekend.
Sheffield Adventure Film Festival is presented in association with the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) at the Showroom Cinema from 1 -19 March. The festival brings the wild outdoors into the heart of the city for three days of jaw dropping spectacle and heart stopping adventure, for the weekend 9 – 11 March. Expect a packed programme of carefully curated films from the world’s best outdoor filmmakers. Featuring top athletes, awe-inspiring locations and the whole spectrum of outdoor sports, with films featuring running, climbing, biking, skiing, surfing and everything in between.
