Current Art Practice

Printmaking is the current focus of my artistic practice. The majority of my printmaking is made with linocut, but I do use a variety of other methods and enjoy the variety this allows, working in both relief and intaglio. I paint and draw regularly, and have painted for many years before becoming a printmaker. Painting informs my colour mixing, layering and use of translucent or opaque ink.

Art Education

I am largely self-taught in my art practice, supplemented with short courses and sharing practice with other artists.

I studied printmaking at Chesterfield College from September 2012 to April 2013, which got me started with printmaking. I continue to attend courses to increase my skill base and knowledge, on an ongoing basis.

Other Education

1986  BSc Pathology (VU Manc)

1988  Batchelor in Dental Surgery (VU Manc)

1998  MMedSci University of Sheffield

From 1988 until 2020, I was a dentist, working in General Practice and in Specialist Community Dentistry, working part-time, and making some art when i could. More recently my art practice developed and increased, to the point that I reduced my dentistry committments, eventually ceasing dentistry in 2020.
